Autocratic leadership – or, the law of power – seems to have taken over the world. The European Union, however, has its very own forms of power: the power of the law. The “Green Deal”, for instance, and comprehensive considerations towards ecological sustainability, are enshrined in the EU treaties.
The EU today also sports the superpower of a special collective intelligence. It could only be built in decades of daily cooperation across geographical, linguistic and cultural borders and boundaries It contains all the non-material cultural techniques, playing fields, and skills of intercultural cooperation that thousands of people have developed in „European union“ as a practice. And finally, in our villages and towns, we find mementos of many ancestors‘ courageous engagement for both people and nature.
