An Opportunity Manager for the European Common Good
Political Science alumna Verena Ringler unpacks how
- studying in Innsbruck and Uppsala had helped her approach countries and the EU through a systems lens
- in a world populated by Risk Managers, she forged her own professional path as an “Opportunity Manager” for pressing European themes and the common good.
- a scientific research boat on Lake Baikal, the roofdeck of a hotel in Pristina/ Kosovo, and a meeting room at Humboldt University in Berlin enabled lasting encounters and left lasting impressions.
- studying abroad and living with peers for a number of months or years increases, in my experience, life-long happiness.
- ventures into seminars outside of one’s own curriculum or specialisation at university can boost the transdisciplinary reflex. This in turn is a key competency involving co-creation and innovation. Heavily needed in today’s world, according to Verena.
- it’s people in local and regional settings who decide upon the success of united Europe. From the green transition all the way to societal resilience – Verena deems local, proactive cooperation among the worlds of science, culture, civil society, politics and public administrations as rewarding and crucial.
